| I want to use 2 dual channel (A and B) encoders with a V130-33-R2 (3 high speed counters) and an expansion I/O block IO-DI8-RO4 (1 high speed counter). Can I set that up and have the PLC recognize the second encoders B channel on the expansion I/O? First encoder channel A wired to I0,1, first encoder channel B wired to I2,3, second encoder channel A wired to I4,5, second encoder channel B I38,39. |

Each High Speed Counter (HSO) on board of the controller (in your case V130-33-R2) is designed to receive both A & B signals of the encoder. You need ot connect A signal to, let's say I0 and B signal to I1. Then, in Hardwqare configuration window of the project you wil set the relevant HSC as Shaft encoder x2 or x4. You wil define register to keep the position. Running thhe application, the controller will count up or down acording to rotation direction. The relevant register will be updated at the beginning of the scan. Please note - Expansion modules don't support Encoders. |
