Ethernet via TCP/IP
Use your factory’s existing LAN wiring to implement stable, high-speed control. Ethernet, the universal COM standard is embedded in Vision controllers.
Ethernet enables MODBUS or open protocol commands to run over TCP/IP. Via the Ethernet port (purchased separately) and easy-to-use Ladder function blocks, Vision can:
- Exchange data, PLC to PLC
- Access external slave devices that support TCP/IP
- Use MODBUS IP or OPC to implement PC access via SCADA
- Acquire data from remote Vision units, networked into Intranets, Internets and wireless LANs
- Boost your connectivity by using dedicated IP address—and access/program remote Vision PLCs via the Internet
GPRS
Use GPRS wireless data transmission services to access your Vision PLC via the Internet. Vision can transmit IP packets of data to a remote PC connected to the Internet via GPRS modem, using a dedicated IP.
GPRS enables you to operate remote PLCs on-line, upload, download, debug programs, and log application data—no wires required.
GSM/SMS
Use your PC to access remote PLCs via network connections, Ethernet, cellular (GPRS/GSM/CDMA) or landline modems. Unitronics’ unique Remote Access utilities enable you (via Ladder software or independently) to remotely:
- Operate the controller’s panel via PC
- Run, reset or initialize a controller
- Download, upload or debug PLC programs
- Read, write and store online operand and system values
Remote Access
Use your PC to access remote PLCs via network connections, Ethernet, cellular (GPRS/GSM/CDMA) or landline modems. Unitronics’ unique Remote Access utilities enable you (via Ladder software or independently) to remotely:
- Operate the controller’s panel via PC
- Run, reset, or initialize a controller
- Download, upload, or debug PLC programs
- Read, write, and store online operand and system values
MODBUS
Use serial or TCP/IP MODBUS to create a multi-device network, and establish master-slave communication between Unitronics PLCs and any connected device that supports the MODBUS protocol (SCADA systems, servos and other peripheral devices). Any Unitronics controller in the network may function as either master or slave.
CANbus
CANbus enables inter-PLC data exchange, for implementation of efficient distributed control. Use Unitronics’ CANbus protocol to integrate up to 63 PLCs into one high-speed network.
OPC/DDE Server
Unitronics’ OPC/DDE servers enable the PLC to exchange data with external applications. Use it to interface with SCADA systems, or to read/write PLC data from/to Excel, Access, or other Windows-based applications.
OPC/DDE Server software utilities are free downloads.
Additional Communication Protocols
The “Protocols” function block enables the Vision PLC to communicate, via RS232 and RS485, with a broad variety of external devices, such as bar-code readers and servos.
DataXport (to Excel)
A powerful software utility that captures PLC application data and exports it to Excel files for logging or processing. Data is exported, either directly, via network connection, or via modem, according to a user-defined schedule, or is pulled manually to view current status.
DataXport is a free download.
