Jazz® Series: Micro PLC with Text-Based HMI

Replace that “smart relay” with a real PLC—for the same low price. 
The Jazz® series controllers are full-function Programmable Logic Controllers with onboard I/Os and a built-in Operator Panel. The Jazz® series’ are specifically designed to control small machines, and to perform simple-to-medium automation tasks. Compact and economical, they enable you to use a low-budget unit without compromising on features and technology.

The Jazz® offers the flexibility of Ladder programming (24K Ladder code, virtual), on-board I/O configurations (some models with direct temperature inputs), communication options such as GSM/SMS, Remote Access, and MODBUS networking. The HMI application enables you to design up to 60 text screens, using up to 64 HMI variables for the display of time, date, and real-time system data. Programming is as easy as it gets—build Ladder Logic control applications using click-and-drop elements…and create your HMI application in the same simple environment.

Flexible PID

Accurate process control—plus all the advantages of flexible PLC programming. Jazz™ controllers enable you to take control with 4 built-in PID loops, including auto-tune.


 

High-speed Inputs 

The Jazz™ PLC can function as a high-speed counter, when connected to devices such as flow meters, using its 2 integral 5kHz inputs. 

 

PWM Outputs 

Control stepper motors or PID-based applications, via PWM, with the Jazz™ onboard PWM outputs (model-dependent).

Print Utility

Log system data or events-on paper. Unitronics PLCs can send scheduled or event-provoked messages to a serial printer, either directly or via modem.

Time-based Control 

Do you need a specific task to be performed at a specific time and date? Simply mark the hour, date or weekday in the PLC software—and you have created time-based control in 3 clicks.

Press the key on the operator panel to enter the PLC’s Information Mode, providing you with powerful diagnostic capabilities.

GSM/SMS

Use your cellular phone to implement real-time remote control in your application. Unitronics PLCs can send and receive SMS messages to/from any GSM cellular phone. The SMS-enabled controllers can:

  • Send & receive text and variable SMS messages
  • Route different messages to different phone numbers
  • Auto-acknowledge received messages
  • Answer data requests—from your cell phone, directly back to your cell phone

 

Remote Access

Use your PC to access remote PLCs via network connections, cellular, or landline modems. Unitronics’ unique Remote Access utilities enable you to remotely:

  • Operate the controller’s HMI panel via PC
  • Run, reset, or initialize a controller
  • Download, upload, or debug PLC programs
  • Read, write, and store online operand and system values

You can perform these actions via U90Ladder, or via Unitronics’ free Remote Access software utility.

MODBUS OPC/DDE Server

Use serial MODBUS to create a multi-device network, and establish master-slave communication between Unitronics PLCs and any connected device that supports the MODBUS protocol (SCADA systems, servos and other peripheral devices). Any Unitronics controller in the network may function as either master or slave.

OPC/DDE Server

Unitronics’ OPC/DDE servers enable the PLC to exchange data with external applications. Use it to interface with SCADA systems, or to read/write PLC data from/to Excel, Access, or other Windows-based applications.

OPC/DDE Server software utilities are free downloads.


RS232/RS485

Plug an Add-on port module (optional) into the Jazz™ to:

  • Provide Jazz™ with a COM port
  • Gain PC access to stand-alone and networked controllers
  • Communicate with external serial devices, such as modems and serial printers
  • Implement MODBUS communication

DataXport (to Excel)

This powerful software utility captures PLC application data and exports it to Excel files for logging or processing. Data is exported either directly, via network connection, or via modem in accordance with a pre-set schedule—or instantly exported in response to a user request.
